NAACP and Community Support COSCO’s DEI Commitment

Summary
Earlier this week, on Presidents Day, 50 people gathered at the COSCO Wholesale Club in northeast Denver to support the company’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts.
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Regional President Portia Prescott led the group in recognizing and supporting COSCO for its ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive space that values diverse backgrounds, promotes fairness, and guarantees equal opportunities for everyone. This was particularly important given the recent trend of the federal government, companies, and institutions backing away from DEI policies. Prescott pointed out how some retailers, like Target, quickly dropped their DEI goals just days after the new presidential administration took office.
To help people make more informed choices, Prescott announced that the NAACP has created a Black Consumer Advisory Guide, which allows Black consumers to navigate the ongoing reduction in DEI policies nationwide. The guide is available online at naacp.org.
Prescott also emphasized the importance of raising the voices of communities, mainly Black and Native American groups, who are often left out of economic conversations. She encouraged people to use their buying power to support businesses committed to fairness and inclusion.
In simple terms, DEI is not only the right thing to do—it’s also the wise and intelligent way to do business!
