Hunter Ambrose Appointed Community Power-Building Lead

Summary
Denver Basic Income Project (DBIP) has announced Hunter Ambrose as DBIP’s new Community Power-Building Lead! Many may know Hunter from her journey with DBIP, starting as a participant and becoming a passionate advocate for guaranteed income. She is now taking on a full-time role to advance our mission.
Hunter’s commitment to this work comes from a deeply personal place. Growing up in the California foster care system, she experienced firsthand the instability and systemic challenges that many DBIP participants face.
In her self-published memoir, Relentless: Surviving Los Angeles Foster Care & Emancipation, Hunter chronicles her fight for stability and equity—values that align closely with DBIP’s mission to empower communities by transferring power and resources directly to those who need them most.
With a background in community organizing and public policy, Hunter has spent years working to create equitable solutions for marginalized communities. She studied Human Services with a Nonprofit Concentration at the Metropolitan State University of Denver and has collaborated with local organizations to promote inclusivity, resilience, and meaningful systemic change.
As the Community Power-Building Lead, Hunter will work closely with DBIP participants, policymakers, and the broader public to amplify the impact of guaranteed income. She will build strong relationships, elevate participant voices, and strengthen our advocacy efforts, ensuring that those most affected by economic insecurity are at the forefront of the movement.
Hunter’s journey from DBIP participant to full-time team member is more than just a personal success—it embodies the heart of our mission. DBIP isn’t just about providing financial support; it’s about shifting the power dynamics in conversations about economic justice. We are so proud and honored to have Hunter leading this vital work.
This program provides participants with regular, unconditional cash payments to help them meet their basic needs. There are no requirements for work or restrictions on money usage. The goal is to reduce poverty, promote economic stability, and empower marginalized communities.
