In just his second season as head coach of the Colorado University football program, Deion Sanders has given Colorado a rapid return on investment. As his moniker suggests, Coach Prime has taken his team to new prime-time television heights, with their 8-2 record being the biggest draw in the nation. And, with just two games left on the regular season schedule, Coach Prime has his team in position to compete for the Big 12 Championship.

The Buffs turned in another stellar performance on Saturday, winning 49-24 over the Utah Utes. With the win, Colorado moved up to #16 in the national college rankings. With BYU and Utah wins this coming Saturday, Colorado can secure a berth in the title game in Dallas. The final two games of the regular season for Colorado will be at Arrowhead Stadium against Kansas on Saturday, followed by Oklahoma State in Boulder the following weekend.

After leaving Jackson State two years ago, Coach Prime took a team that was 1-11 before his arrival to an 8-4 record currently and a national ranking for the first time since 2016. “We know who we are, what we are, how we are, where we’re going, and we know how to get there,” Sanders said of his team. “So we don’t listen to the outside noise. And that’s something that we prepare our young men for daily, not just with football, but with life.”

Sanders and the Buffs are being led by his son Shedeur Sanders at quarterback and dual-threat Travis Hunter, who joined Colorado after playing for Coach Prime at Jackson State. Hunter is the front-runner for the Heisman Trophy and has one of the all-time greatest seasons in college football history.

Playing most of the snaps on offense and defense in Saturday’s win against Utah, Hunter had a touchdown reception and an interception for the third time in a game this season. He is the first player in 25 seasons to get 50+ catches and 3+ interceptions in the same year. The last player to come close was former Denver Broncos player Champ Bailey, who had 47 catches, four interceptions, and five touchdowns.

“If they can’t see they can’t see.” said Coach Prime about the Heisman voters and Hunter’s chance at the Heisman. “It is what it is, Travis is who he is. It’s supposed to go to the best college player. I think that’s been a wrap since what, Week 2. We ain’t petitioning for nobody, we ain’t doing that. We have a wonderful display of cameras here and I think we’re on national television every week. If they can’t see it, there’s a problem. Don’t allow their hatred of me to interfere with our kids’ success. They gotta stop that. Y’all gotta stop that … y’all gotta stop that man. Give the kids what they
